About Us

History

My enthusiasm for the building trade is inspired by a long family history. My Great Grandfather, William Sneddon, was a furnace bricklayer at the Eglinton Ironworks in Kilwinning in 1892. My Grandfather Martin served his time as a bricklayer in 1920 and his son Martin (my Father) served his time as a bricklayer in 1954. Following on with the family tradition in 1976 I came into the building trade as a bricklayer serving my time with William McClure of Irvine. However it doesn’t quite end there in further keeping with the family tradition my son, who is also called Martin, joined the trade in 1999 and served his time with me.

In 1984 I went self-employed as a subcontracting bricklayer travelling around the central belt working for various large house builders and in design and build projects. In 2002 we took a new direction from direct bricklaying duties as subcontractors and formed our own builders business and have since had a very successful run.

We pride ourselves in offering our clients a complete package from the initial planning through to the completion stage. We offer a broad spectrum of works including self builds, extensions, renovations, alterations and garden landscaping. Within this we also supply sanitary wares, kitchen wares and double glazing. Within our photo gallery you will see examples of our work.

We have a great team working with us and have worked on a various range of projects over the course of our business. Working on listed buildings has been one of our greatest challenges and we derive great pleasure from them (see photos). We have been in business doing soft and hard landscaping for the same period of time as we have been building. This involves the use of our trade background to its greatest effect, utilising our wet trade skills to their optimum. We greatly enjoy our landscaping side of the business and take great pride in the quality of the design and the high standard of presentation in the completed project. We ensure that our projects are completely tailored to our clients’ needs through regular consultations.

We have been members of Federal Masters of Builders (FMB) since 2006 and have been Masterbond accredited for the same period. We have successfully passed the accreditation tests three times. Over the years we have established an excellent clientele base and continue to have repeat custom from clients and their family and friends. We strive to give all of our clients a tailored package with the benefit of our experience including the delegation of trades needed for a project with tradesmen we know and trust. We also use our knowledge and experience to liaise with the local Building Standards officers and we take pride in our 100% pass rate with completion certificates. Overall as a business we pride ourselves in the quality of our workmanship and our ability to communicate with clients to ensure they are satisfied with the work being carried out during a project and on completion of a project. We look forward to meeting new customers in the future and embarking on new projects.
